Practice a language every day, with people doing the same
Language apps are good at streaks and bad at people. The streak is only yours, so when it breaks, nobody minds but you.
A language group on WhereIsMyBuddy puts people around the practice. You learn however you learn, an app, a class, a tutor, flashcards, then check in. The others see it. Some are learning the same language, some are not. Everyone is showing up.
What a group can look like
Fifteen minutes a day
Daily, Gentle. Any method counts.
Spanish on weekdays
Weekdays, for a group learning the same language. Today’s prompt can be the word or phrase of the day.
The weekly lesson
Weekly, for the class or tutor session you keep moving.
Before the trip
Daily, Committed, for a group with a date to be ready by.
What a check-in looks like
A tap, and a note if you want one: the word you learned, the episode you watched without subtitles. Learning check-ins do not carry a number, so there is nothing to compare. The group sees that you showed up.
Today’s prompt
One member sets the day’s prompt: a word, a phrase, a question to answer in the language. Everyone sees it when they open the group, and it gives the discussion something to be about.
Gentle or Committed?
Language learning is long. Gentle keeps it kind: a missed day resets your streak and nothing else.
Committed suits a group with an exam or a trip coming up. Five missed scheduled days in thirty and you are out for a week, then free to rejoin with a clean slate.
Join a group, or start your own
Search Discover for “language” to see the public groups already running, and join one in a tap. Private groups take an invitation, or a request the owner approves.
Or start your own in six short steps: name it (“Spanish on weekdays”), pick a cover, set the level, choose the days, decide who can find it, and look it over. On the free plan you can run one public group and one private one, with room for twelve people in the private one. Invite people with a link, or let them find you in Discover.
Questions people ask
Can I use it alongside a language app?
Yes. Use any app, class, tutor or book. You check in on WhereIsMyBuddy after you have practiced.
Does everyone in the group need to learn the same language?
No. Some groups are one language, some are anyone learning anything. The group’s description says which.
Can we practice together live?
Start a shared session, a timer the group can join. When it ends, everyone has a check-in ready to post.
How do I find other learners?
Search Discover for the language, or start a public group and let people find it.
Start a language group, or join one
