Habit groups

Running is easier when someone sees you went

The hardest part of a run is the front door. Once you are out, you usually finish. A running group on WhereIsMyBuddy is for the door.

You pick your running days, run, and check in. The people in your group see your tick, and you see theirs. Nobody is comparing paces. It is a small room of people who said they would run today, and did.

What a group can look like

  • Three runs a week

Custom days, say Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Rest days are not on the schedule, so they never count as misses.

  • From the couch to 5K, together

Everyone starts the same week and checks in after each session of the plan.

  • Saturday long run

Weekly. One run, whatever long means for you that week.

  • A daily mile

Daily, Gentle. Short enough to do on a bad day.

What a check-in looks like

A running check-in can log minutes or distance, in kilometres or miles, whichever you set in your profile. The group sees it beside your tick. Add a note or a photo from the route if you like; those stay with the members.

A running partner every week

Every Sunday you are paired with one person in the group as your buddy for the week. Their check-ins sit at the top of the activity, and either of you can send a one-tap nudge. It is a running accountability partner without having to find one.

Each Sunday the group also gets a short story of its week: what people actually did, written up and shareable. Never a ranking, and never a word about who was away.

Gentle or Committed?

If you are training for a race, Committed keeps the plan honest. Only your scheduled days count, and five misses in thirty days takes you out of the group for a week.

If you are building the habit from nothing, start Gentle. A missed day resets your streak and nothing more.

Join a group, or start your own

Search Discover for “running” to see the public groups already running, and join one in a tap. Private groups take an invitation, or a request the owner approves.

Or start your own in six short steps: name it (“Three runs a week”), pick a cover, set the level, choose the days, decide who can find it, and look it over. On the free plan you can run one public group and one private one, with room for twelve people in the private one. Invite people with a link, or let them find you in Discover.

Questions people ask

I have rest days. Will they count as misses?

No. Only the days on the group’s schedule count. Choose custom days, and rest days are simply off.

Do I have to log my distance?

No. Minutes and distance are optional. A tap is a check-in.

Does it connect to my watch or a running app?

No. You check in yourself, in one tap. Some runners add a photo of the route or the splits as a note.

Can I find a running partner here?

Join a public running group in Discover. Every Sunday you are paired with one member as your buddy for the week.
